村上市 （むらかみし）は、 新潟県北部の日本海に面した市である。 Murakami (uneven and the people) is a city facing the Sea of northern Niigata Prefecture.

新潟県最北の市。 Northernmost city in Niigata Prefecture. 小さいながらも独自の文化圏を形成する。 To form a small but unique cultures. かつては村上藩の城下町として栄え、現在でも市中に武家町、商人町の面影が残る。 Once flourished as a castle town of Murakami clan, warrior in the market town still remains a mere shadow of the town merchants. 面積は1,174.24km²で県内最大。 The prefecture covers an area of 1,174.24 km ² max. 人口は約7万人で燕市に次いで8位。 Population of about 7 after the city of Yan in the eighth million.
