  • 同社が関連する財団法人として「財団法人東和食品研究振興会」（ 1975年 11月設立）がある。元々は魚肉ソーセージなどの保存料として使われていた「 フリルフラマイド （通称AF2）」に発癌性・催奇性があるとして1970年代前半に社会問題化したことが背景にあり（結局AF2は1974年に使用禁止となる）、食品に関する安全性を民間で研究する体制を確立すべく設立された。現在は毎年国内の大学や水産系高校に対し公募を行った中から10件前後に対し奨励金を給付している。
  • 1993年には生タイプ麺を使ったカップラーメンとして「ヌー大陸」というものが販売されていた。当時「 日清ラ王 」に対抗する商品として開発され、しょうゆ味ととんこつ味の2種類がラインナップ。その後1995年に商品名を「ラーメン横町」に改名。こちらはしょうゆ味とみそ味の2種類がラインナップされていた。いずれも発売当時、一部ではラ王よりも高い評価を得ていたが市場ではさすがに「日清ラ王」に打ち勝つ事が出来ず、 1996年に惜しまれつつも生タイプ系カップ麺の分野から撤退している。

高杉良の『 燃ゆるとき 』（ 実業之日本社 、 1990年 ）（ 新潮文庫 、 1993年 ）は、同社とその創業者である森和夫をモデルにした実名小説である。その続編『ザ エクセレントカンパニー～新・燃ゆるとき』（ 毎日新聞社 、 2003年 ）（ 角川文庫 、 2005年 ）では、東邦水産の高木遼太郎社長となっている。

さらに高杉は、森の強い勧めで東京オリンピックの招致に尽力したフレッド・イサム・ワダをモデルとした『祖国へ、熱き心を』（ 世界文化社 、1990年）（ 講談社文庫 、 1992年 ）（新潮文庫、2001年）を執筆した。
